Episode 124: Voices In My Head

Hello magical friends and welcome to episode 124 of WZRD Radio! I’m your hostwitch and I’m delighted to inform you all that it’s my birthday month, so prepare your celebrations accordingly. There should be cake.

Quick! Go get started on that!

To speed you on your way, here’s “Dumbledore’s Army” by The Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office.

~*~

That was The Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office and “Dumbledore’s Army” [lyrics], Malfoy Manor with “Stronger than Imperio” [lyrics], and “Imperius Regrets” by The Mudbloods.

Let’s turn our attention now to that wandering wix, our Special Correspondent in the Field DQ.

SCitF DQ: Greetings and salutations to all the members of the Wizard Rock Nation. This is Special Correspondent in the Field, DQ, with a couple of updates just for you. As our hostwitch has declared. It is the summer of fun, and I have some gratitude to bestow on the wizard rock community. First, I would like to say thank you to everyone who contributed to the 2025 Wizard Rock Sampler. The tracks are currently being mastered. The Sampler will be ready for release on September 1st. And if you haven’t joined the Wizard Rock Discord server yet, now is the perfect time and keep your eyes out for a notification about a listening party. I would also like to thank you on behalf of our hostwitch, for everyone who contributed to the Just Joy comp. No doubt that will also be a spectacular contribution to the wizard rock library.

And speaking of the Summer Of Fun, the Summer! Of! Fun! Zine is accepting submissions through the end of August. They’re accepting all fan art, fan fiction, essays, quizzes, and anything else that might fit into a zine similar to the Just Joy Comp. Everyone that submits will get a physical copy and people are encouraged to get weird, thoughtful, silly, and chaotic with it. And a link will be included in the transcript for this episode. So to everyone who has contributed something to the wizard rock library so far this year, thank you to everyone who has not yet, but is still working on it, thank you in advance.

And I would also be remiss if I did not remind the listeners that next month in St. Louis will be EnchantiCon, August 15th through the 17th. And although there may not be anything official on the schedule, I just want to remind the listeners that Voldemort couldn’t stop the wrock and neither can anyone else. Many wizard rockers will be in attendance at that event. And when wizard rockers get together, they always find a space and time to make magic. This is Special Correspondent in the Field, DQ saying, thank you, wizard rock community. Thanks to you, home is never far away.

Thank you for that, DQ! You are an absolute treasure. And I hope you all have fun at EnchantiCon.

Magical listeners, I hope you’re feeling inspired and ready to create! Grab your pencils, cameras, and tablets while I cue up the next set of songs, starting with “Buzz Worthy” from Kwikspell.

~*~

That block of music started with the amazing Kwikspell and “Buzz Worthy” [lyrics], MuggleBorn’s “The Imperious is Gone But Not Forgotten,” and we rounded it out with “Imperiused When I Left You” from Into the Pensieve [lyrics].

As I mentioned, this month is my birthday! Here are a few ways you might choose to celebrate.

First of all, with Wizzy Raps 2 from Striking Down Diggory! I don’t know when it’s happening, but the first one was amazing so keep an eye on them.

Because the Boy Who Lived’s birthday was a weekday this year, a number of birthday events have been pushed to the first weekend in August, including the Harry Potter Birthday Celebration in Howell, MI. [link]

If you’re around Lebanon, TN on August 2nd, there’s going to be a Harry Potter birthday party at Lighthouse Tattoo, complete with flash tattoo options! [link]

August 2nd is also a Harry Potter Game Night in Corning, NY. [link]

If you’re a tea person like me, you may want to check out the Harry Potter Tea on August 10th in Gallipolis, OH. [link]

August 15-17 is EnchantiCon, formerly known as LeakyCon. A lot of our wizard rockers will be there, and a number of interesting Potter-themed panels will be happening, so keep an eye out if you’re attending [link]

Sanford, MI is hosting an all-new interactive Harry Potter parody musical August 21 – 23rd which sounds amazing and comes with thematically appropriate drinks! [link]

And don’t forget! Like DQ said, you have all of August to get your essays, jokes, doodles, and quizzes in for the Summer! Of! Fun! Zine. I can’t wait to see what you all create, and then share it with the world! [link]

And last month, Striking Down Diggory released “Wizzy Raps for Frens,” complete with adorable merch! [link] [link]

All these events, and more, are available on the Potterhead Calendar page of the WZRD website. And don’t forget to check out your local meetups and libraries!

While you check all that out, here’s our last music break. Here’s Knight Bus with “Knight Bus.”

~*~

That was Knight Bus with “Knight Bus” [lyrics], “Imperio” by The Sectumsempras, and MC Kreacher’s “Voices In My Head [lyrics].

And that’s the end of our episode! I hope you had fun and are feeling inspired.
