Episode 118: Song for Unconventional Public Transportation

Hello magical friends, and welcome to episode 118 of WZRD Radio! I’m your hostwitch Bess and we are getting into the proper warmth of the year over here. Time for regular visits to Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlor and dips in the Black Lake! Or your local equivalent.

While you look up “closest giant squid habitat,” here’s our first bit of music, with Siriusly Hazza P and “Why’d I Do It?” leading the charge.

Episode 115: The 8th Horcrux

Hello magical friends, with an extra special hello to my newest patron, Harrison, whose support lets me do these interviews!

Our anniversary interview is with Paul of the 8th Horcrux! He’s got so many fun memories and some wonderful advice for new bands, I can’t wait to get into it with you.

But first! Some anniversary interview music. Here’s “Stay By My Side” from The Whomping Willows.

Episode 105: Halloween is Fun, But…

Hello magical friends, and welcome to episode 105 of WZRD Radio! I’m your hostwitch Bess and before we get in to today’s episode I’ve got a bit of business.

As you know, WZRD is now a team of two, with your hostwitch staffing the main office and our beloved Special Correspondent in the Field DQ gallavanting about and meeting you all in person. Well, it felt important that we have some sort of token for folks who might happen across Dream Quaffle while they’re Corresponding. To that effect we’ve knocked up three potential designs of buttons but we need your help making the final decision on which one will be the official Special Correspondent in the Field swag.

I’ve made a public poll on the WZRD Patreon, with a picture of each button option, that anyone can vote on. You don’t have to be a magical patron! Just pop on over to Patreon.com/WZRDRadioPod and tell us which one you think is best.

Episode 74: Worth Fighting For

Hello magical friends, and welcome to episode 74 of WZRD Radio! I’m your hostwitch Bess and before we get to the music, I want to point you to a petition.

Other folks, including the Goblet of Wine podcast, have said it better, but Harry Potter, and the Harry Potter fandom, are rapidly becoming synonymous with transphobia, anti-Semitism, and bigotry thanks to Rowling and the creators of Hogwarts Legacy. The fact that HBO think that that is a good platform for a new TV show is alarming.

It’s up to us to let people know this is not what the fandom is about, which is why I’m a proud signatory of the HP Fans Against Transphobia petition, asking HBO to reconsider. I’ve put the link in the show notes, and I hope you’ll join me. Until the Harry Potter franchise is no longer used to fund hatred, supporting new projects just isn’t worth the cost. [link]

I’m sorry I’m starting us off on such a grim note, but fandom joy comes with responsibilities and I’m not willing to look away.

At last, here’s the music. First up is “Patronus for the Day” by Penelope Clearwater Revival.

Episode 60: Draco and the Malfoys

Hello magical friends, and welcome to WZRD Radio! I’m your hostwitch Bess, and today we’re talking to one of the originals. I’d make you guess, but you’ve probably seen the episode title so you know it’s Draco and the Malfoys! We actually talked for so long that my magical patrons are getting a special extended edition of the episode, over on Patreon.

Bradley and Brian are such delights and I know you can’t wait to hear what they have to say, but listen to your music first.

This is Hogwarts Therapist and “no dark mark, no crime.”

Episode 43: 99 Death Eaters

Hello magical friends, and welcome to episode 43 of WZRD Radio. I’m your hostwitch Bess and I’m…extraordinarily sleepy, at the moment. It’s a little known fact that hostwitches are prone to hibernation in the winter, but I’m staying awake just long enough to record this.

Let’s get started. Here’s Stephanie and the Quaffles with “The Weapon.”
