Hello magical friends, and welcome to the last episode of 2022! I’m your hostwitch Bess, and I’m getting excited for all the bright celebrations that come at the end of the year. Here’s hoping my city hires the Weasley Twins for the end-of-year fireworks, yeah?
It’s our third December together, magical friends, and you know what that means!
Here’s “A Very Severus Christmas” by Muggle Mike.
~*~
That was “A Very Severus Christmas” by Muggle Mike, Ludo Bagman and the Trash singing “For the Holidays,” and “Celebrate the Day” by RiddleTM [lyrics].
This December wandoscope is for magical friends who carry wands of redwood!
According to wandlore, your wand chose you for your ability to make the right choices, land on your feet, and the ability to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Between that and the “propensity for exciting exploits,” you kind of sound like a sports anime hero. Good for you.
December can be very fraught, redwood carrier. Lots of tense interpersonal minefields, and if you’re in the northern hemisphere, the lack of sunlight doesn’t help. You’re pretty good at spinning it to safety at the last second, but I think you’ll find it a lot less stressful if you take a minute now to work out a game plan. What can you tolerate? What might be tricky? Delineate your weak points and your boundaries and get a Holiday Buddy you know will have your back. May I suggest a coral core or pear wood?
Our next music break begins with Tonks and the Aurors and “Auror Xmas.”
~*~
That was Tonks and the Aurors singing “Auror Xmas” [lyrics], Peeved with “A Ministry-Approved Christmas,” and “(I Want a) Hippogriff for Christmas” by Hawthorn & Holly [lyrics].
Here’s our end-of-year round up, magical friends!
I haven’t heard anything about a Yule Ball yet, but that doesn’t mean they’re not out there, so keep a close eye on Harry and the Potters.
As for things I have heard of…
On December 2nd you can try your hand at wizarding science at the St. Louis, MO science center. [link]
Sometimes the winter festivities include alcohol. The Eccentric Englishman in Northampton, UK will be having a Harry Potter Christmas Cocktails event on December 3rd for exactly that reason. [link]
Dream Quaffle will be at New England Wizardfest in Marlborough, MA from December 10-11th. [link]
If you’re closer to Germantown, WI on the 10th, check out a Tonks and the Aurors concert! [link]
Kuna, ID has a fantastic Yule Ball going on December 13th. You can learn to do a waltz or partake of a duel, however you prefer to spend your yule. [link]
On December 16th, Draco and the Malfoys will be Seaford, DE performing at a library Yule Ball. [link]
December 31st is your last opportunity to get the Pedia Comp Club, both 2021 and 2022! After that they’re going in the vault. The final album, incidentally, is a tribute to How Airplanes Fly! I know. [link]
And last month…
Dream Quaffle released “Lavender Brown Looks Kind of Blue.” [link]
And Hut on the Wrock Volume 3 squeaked in there at the end of the month! [link]
As always, these events can be found on the Potterhead Calendar on the WZRD Radio website.
Here’s our last music break of the year! It opens with “Unsent” by Lav2.
~*~
That was “Unsent” by Lav2 [lyrics], Muggle Snuggle and “Anthony Oh Anthony,” and “Flaming Christmas Pudding” by The Swedish Shortsnouts [lyrics].
And this is the end of the show! I hope you’re all feeling snuggly cozy and have a warm butterbeer to hand.
Unless you’re in the southern hemisphere. Then I hope you have a cold drink. Ice tea, maybe.
